Danny Cahill of "The Biggest Loser" rates Qdoba Mexican Grill in his Fast Food Survival Guide!

In the last issue, I reviewed all of the restaurants I have rated before. See it at http://www.thedannycahill.com/node/198 . This week it's Qdoba Mexican Grill! Here's the skinny:

Qdoba Mexican Grill

There are a few things to remember when going to a Mexican grill: drop the flour tortillas and forego the chips! Salsa isn’t so bad besides the sodium content, but the chips and flour tortillas can really ruin your calorie count! A flour tortilla on the burrito adds a whopping 310 calories! The chips? I don’t EVEN want to talk about it! STEP AWAY FROM THE CHIPS!

I always get a “naked” burrito from Qdoba (or “burrito in a bowl.”)

I start with black beans, and then I add grilled chicken or grilled steak. I add Pico de Gallo and Salsa (fiery habanero for me, I like it HOT!) Lettuce and Fajita Vegetables are my add-ons for bulk and flavor! It all ends up looking like this:

395 Calories, 37g Protein, 34g Carbs, 12g Fat, 18g Fiber, 1075 mg Sodium.

Another option is 3 tacos. I choose a crispy taco shell, then 1 grilled chicken, 1 grilled steak, and 1 pulled pork taco. Add Pico de Gallo and Salsa, Lettuce and Fajita Vegetables. Here’s how it looks:

450 Calories, 26g Protein, 43g Carbs, 19g Fat, 6g Fiber, 1090mg Sodium (more)

First, let me tell you how this idea took shape. I travel all over the world speaking, teaching at seminars and playing music. In doing so, there are times I just cannot help but have to eat at some kind of Fast Food restaurant. Jillian and Bob, on season 8, took us to a restaurant and taught us that there are things you can do to make healthier choices when eating out! I have also learned that there are certain items on the menu that are healthier than others! Notice I AM NOT saying Healthy, but Healthier!

We've all got dreams, life goals, and things we want to make happen. So what's the first step? Projection.

When you watch a movie, there's a machine that takes a digital file and PROJECTS it onto a screen so the movie goers can see it. Without the projection, it's just a file - something that is there, but it's not being realized, or even perceived!

Your dreams, goals, and aspirations are there. They are real. They just need to be realized. And the first thing you need to do is to PROJECT it for you and others to see!

In Proverbs 18:21 it says, "The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences." (NLT) This is so true! Your tongue is a PROJECTOR of your dreams and goals. What you project out of your mouth has the propensity to come alive! If you continually say, "I can't," that is what you will bring to life - both in your head AND in your heart. Speaking life over your dreams and goals is the first step to making your dreams come alive - and it begins by convincing yourself it is possible.

I just wrote a new praise and worship song about this! I am speaking God's truth about my problems - that what He says about them is bigger than the problem itself. And when I sing this song, the solution seems to rise up in my heart and mind, and the problem seems to fade into the background! It has happened so many times in my life - with my marriage, my finances, my weight, my music, and my addictions.

Look at the definition of let: to cause to; make: to let one know the truth. (read on!)

Danny Cahill Fast Food Survival Guide 7 - Muscle Maker Grill

    I’ve been to healthy food restaurants before, and it is comforting when you know that the calories and nutritional make-up of the food is pretty good. But it’s really awesome when the food tastes great too! This is what I found at Muscle Maker Grill. Here in Tulsa, it’s located at Highway 75 and 71st St. in the Tulsa Hills Shopping Center. I drove there in the snow to sample some of their best selling dishes, and here’s what I found:

   First, I tried the Texas Chicken Nuggets. A serving of them are 284 calories and only 310mg of sodium. My first thought was that my son David would love them! He’s usually caught dipping his Hot Wings in a thick Bleu Cheese and killing his calories for the day! These are served with fat-free sour cream and trust me, they are amazing!

   Then, I had a few bites of the Mardi Gras Cajun Grilled Chicken Salad. It was amazing, and without the croutons it is Gluten Free! In fact, EVERY DISH except one can be made Gluten-Free which is a great plus for those looking for Gluten-free restaurants! A serving of the salad is 415 calories and has 610 mg of Sodium. It is very high in protein and low in carbs, but does have a bit of fat. Overall, not a bad choice after a workout! Not to mention it tastes incredible!

Lose Your Quit (The meaning behind the title)

Have you ever felt that all the work you were doing just didn't matter? Or maybe that it was no use, because the road was way too long and it was a lost cause? I have.

When I was 460 pounds, even if I lost 60 pounds I still weighed 400! Image looking at yourself in the mirror after losing 60 pounds and seeing absolutely NO difference! It was too much! So over and over again I would quit and gain the weight back. Well, one night on The Biggest Loser, I did the math. Over the last 15 years, I had lost over 1,000 POUNDS! Just 20, 30, or 40 pounds at a time. When I saw no results, I would quit. And what you do every day becomes your normal - so quitting became my middle name.

It began with my music career. I quit. Then my job. I settled and quit doing what I loved to do. Then, I just QUIT ON ME! Well, that night on the ranch when I was digging a hole in the Malibu Beach sand, trying to win a Biggest Loser challenge, it hit me. I was the first person to uncover my chest, but I still didn't win the challenge. After doing the math that night on how much I had lost over the years, I also discovered I had done more work GIVING UP and QUITTING then if I had just FOLLOWED THROUGH. I lost 239 pounds in 6 1/2 months on The Biggest Loser. That's a quarter of what I lost at home 15 years up to that point! That night, digging a hole in the sand, I wanted to quit a hundred times...BUT I DIDN'T! I chose NOT TO GIVE UP!

    The trick to eating at Chipotle is to DITCH THE TORTILLAS!  The Flour Burrito Tortilla is 290 calories! That is C-R-A-Z-Y!  Corn Taco tortillas are 180 calories while a Flour Taco tortilla is a whopping 270 calories!  So right off the bat, I’m going to tell you to GO FOR THE BOWL!

    When choosing Bowl contents, select 4 Oz. of Chicken, Beef, Barbacoa or Carnitas. Lowest in Sodium and fat is Steak and Chicken which contain 190 Calories each for 4 ounces.
